Animal Habitat Challenge What happens to animals when the weather gets really hot? Really cold? Windy? Rainy? They need a shelter either found in nature, something they can build or built by a human. Our little engineers built animal homes and created shelters.
Air and Bubbles The preschool and kindergarten students learned about air all around us and how bubbles need air to form and to float.
Farm Animal Habitats The preschool engineers have been learning all about farming and they made farm animal habitats! They had to remember to provide a safe and secure shelter, food, and water.
Sink or Float? The Kindergarten and First Grade Engineers experimented with apples and water to see if an apple will sink or float.
Fall Leaves The preschool - 3rd grade students collected and examined leaves. They compared color variations, size, and shape and created a graph.

Building a Bridge The 4th-8th grade classes researched, collaborated, and built bridges out of craft sticks and glue. They used their researching, teamwork, and imagination skills. The 4th and 5th grade students tested their bridge strength and durability with a toy car. The 6th-8th grade students tested their bridge strength with pennies, books, building materials, and even people!
Candy Corn Experiment 1st-5th Grade students use the scientific method in STREAM class to investigate which liquid would dissolve candy corn the fastest. They made predictions and tested their theories! It was interesting to see the waxy outer layer of the candy pull away first. What a great group of scientists!
Chicka Trees The preschool and kindergarten students are working on their engineering skills in STREAM class. They built Chicka Chicka Boom Boom Trees and competed to see how many letters they could stack on top before the tree fell over!
The Raisin Experiment When a raisin is dropped into Sprite it does a little jiggly dance!
Halloween Masks The preschool students made funny Halloween masks and showed off their dance moves!

Save Fred! The 5th-8th grade students were given the challenge to save poor Fred the Worm from drowning! Fred was boating on the Great Lakes when a gush of wind capsized his boat. He was left stranded on the top of his boat with no life preserver and he can't swim! The students had to work with a partner to get Fred's life preserver from under the boat and get Fred in it...but there is a twist! They couldn't use their hands, they had to save him using paper clips!
Rockets, Rockets, Rockets! The preschool - 8th grade engineers built straw rockets and learned how rockets are powered. The 6th - 8th grade students researched and wrote a paper on the history of rockets.
Snowman Snowball Toss Game The preschool and Kindergarten Engineers created a Snowman Snowball Toss Game. They created the snowman cups and competed to see which team could get the most golden snowballs in the cups.
Valentine Heart Challenge The St. Damian Engineers in grades Pre-K through 5th grade were challenged to build a stable structure out of Valentine Heart Candy. They had to work with their partners and compete against their classmates to build the tallest structure.

What can you make with an egg carton?
The St. Damian Engineers tested GRAVITY with hand made parachutes. They concluded that a parachute that weighed more has more mass and will fall to the Earth quicker than a parachute that was lighter with less mass.
